Boilermakers Sweep Hoosiers

10/24: Quick Start Propels Purdue to Victory

Purdue got out ahead early against IU on Friday night in the first game of the weekend set, and that early lead would hold for the Boilermakers.

Purdue jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes, similar to the last time these two played at the ICHC Showcase. However, the dagger came when Purdue put a goal away with 1 second left in the first period to make it 3-0 heading into the locker room.

Coming out to start the second period Purdue kept their foot on the pedal, putting two more goals away to make it a 5-0 lead.

Finally IU chipped into the lead to bring the score to 5-1, but this would just be the beginning of the two teams trading goals for the second half of the contest.

The final 30 minutes of play would result in a total of 12 goals between the two teams, with IU putting up 2 in the second and 4 in the third while Purdue managed 3 more in the second half of the second period and 3 more in the third.

When the dust finally settled, the shootout ended with Purdue on top 11-6.

10/25: Hoosiers Lose Lead, Fall 7-3

It was a hostile enviornment in Fishers for game 2 of the weekend set between Purdue and IU, as the Boilermakers were hosting their first annual PUDM Charity Event.

Despite the crowd, IU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Purdue would answer to knot the score at one, but IU would get a goal near the end of the first to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room.

Bryan Mooney and Nate Mika led of the scoring for the Hoosiers in the first period.

Although they were down, Purdue came out hot at the beginning of the second period for the second straight game.

Just 43 seconds in, Purdue put one by goalie Ben Seinfeld to knot the game at 2. The two teams would then trade goals as Nate Mika picked up his second of the afternoon to then tie it a 3. However, right as the Hoosiers tied it at 3 with 6 minutes to go in the second, Purdue responded to make the score 4-3 just a minute later.

The Boilermakers took the 4-3 into the locker room, and didn't look back. Purdue would tack on a few insurance goals in the third to bring the score to a final of 7-3.
