Hoosiers Bring Home Hardware, Undefeated in ACHA Showcase

11/14: Hoosiers Dominate SIUE, Win 7-5

IU may have only defeated SIUE by two goals on Friday night, but the score was hardly the tale of the tape in this tilt.

The Hoosiers outshot the Cougars by over 40 shots, but SIUE's netminder stood on his head all night.

After SIUE scored the first goal of the game, IU surged back with two of their own on the PP from Corben Sherlock and Cody Reiff to take a 2-1 lead. Late in the period the Cougars responded to knot the game at two after one.

The second period was completley dominated by the Hoosiers, but again they only managed to find the back of the net twice on goals from Max Baren and Tyler Eichsteadt.

Scoring opened up in the third period for both sides, as their were a total of six goals in the final frame. IU goals came from Kyle Donelson, Dan Cummins, and Bryan Mooney. The Hoosiers were out to a commanding 7-3 lead late in the third before SIUE popped a couple of late goals. Nonetheless, the Hoosiers ended the first game of the showcase with a W.

David Argast got the start in the first game of the showcase, picking up his first W of the season.

11/15: Big Third Period Leads IU Past NIU

Last year IU and NIU faced-off in the same showcase in a game that the Hoosiers would take 4-1. The Huskies were looking for revenge in this year's showcase.

IU made it clear from the start they weren't going to let the Huskies have this one.

Right out of the gate the Hoosiers pelted the NIU netminder with shots. Two early goals in the first were the result from Nate Mika and Tyler Eichsteadt.

NIU responded with two of their own to knot it at two to end the first, but NIU would only find the back of the net one more time the rest of the way. The Hoosiers would bury four more.

Nate Mika would have a two goal game to bring his total to the season to 8, while other goals were added by Nick Kleva and Kane Benjamin, who scored the GWG for his first collegiate goal early in the third period.

Ben Seinfeld got the nod in between pipes and he made 28 saves on his way to his third win of the season.

11/16: Late Goal Gives IU The Hardware

With IU and RMU entering Sunday's matchup both at 2-0 in the showcase, the morning tilt was turned into a "championship" game. Even though it wasn't technically a championship game, it had the makings of one.

Both teams traded goals out of the gate in a high scoring first period that ended with IU on top 3-2. Nick Kleva had two goals to bring his season total to 14 points, and Tyler Eichsteadt also scored for the third straight game.

Although the first period had this game looking like a shootout, the scoring settled in the second as both teams were deadlocked at zero.

Almost forty minutes of play would lapse before another goal were scored, and it would come on the PK by RMU. Off a blocked shot, the Eagles came in on Seinfeld on a breakway and buried to tie the game at three with just 4:40 remaining in the game.

With this one looking like it was on its way to a shootout, Tyler Eichsteadt broke out the Superman cape to save the day. Off a beautiful feed from Kleva, Eichsteadt scored his fifth, and biggest, goal of the weekend with 2:25 remaining in the contest to bring home the hardware for IU.

Ben Seinfeld got the nod again and made 19 saves for his second straight win.

IU now enters Thanksgiving break at a record of 8-7-1 before their final matchup of the semester when they travel to the University of Illinois Dec 5th/6th.
